This book. Wow. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is one of those stories that forces you to shut out the world, demands your full attention and leaves you completely immersed in the events unfolding before you. Mind racing. Heart pounding.
16 year old Mara Dyer is the lone survivor of a tragic accident which claims the lives of three of her friends. After waking in the hospital, she has no memory of what has happened. She and her family decide to move, hoping for a new start that will help Mara h ...more

What. The. Actual. Fuck.?????
I'm gonna say that ending somehow did not surprise me. I was getting small hints but I kept second-guessing myself. I thought I was right and then I thought I was wrong. Then I thought maybe I was right all along. Then it didn't make sense. Then...then...then... Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Through the whole damn book.
Holy. Shit.
I was right. I wished I was wrong because now I'm pissed. I can't believe that . Gah!!!

I cannot even with this book! I have so much I want to say ... it is that good. First of all, the author based the character, Noah, after Robert Pattinson. I was reading, and she's describing him, and I'm like, wait, he sounds really familiar. I go onto her site, and sure enough, there is a picture of Rob.
That alone made this book pretty great.

Mara Dyer's past is a blur. In one night, she lost her best friend and boyfriend to a tragic fire that no one dares to discuss. And so her family relocates to a new town, where Mara will come to terms that the past just can't stay hidden.

I though this book was amazing! I was pulled in right away by the cover.. Its beautiful!!! Loved the quotes on the inside jacket they really got me hooked I needed to read this book, and it did not disappoint! I loved the writing style, I felt like I was being told a story from a girlfriend... yA books can be a little chaste with the vocab but this was saucy! I LOVED the fact that Mara's family wad Indian.. It was a refreshing change for a character.. The sibling relationships are great too!!! J

There were A LOT of similarities to Twilight (ie: Noah was VERY Edward-like, some school scenes were similar, etc...), but the story itself held its own. And I ended up truly enjoying it. There were parts where I just couldn't put it down, and the ending was quite the cliffie. I'll def continue the series. Can't wait for October!
