A word of warning if you read either of the two books in this series the writing will probably ruin most contemporary romance for you. The writing including the description, phrasing and just the way the whole book flows isn't at all what one would expect from a romance writer. I love romance books but even I have to admit that it's usually not for their amazing writing.

Sylvain Reynard is an amazing writer, not to mention the philosophical conversation that is scattered throughout this book 4-4.5

Sylvain Reynard is an amazing writer, not to mention the philosophical conversation that is scattered throughout this book. This book made me want to study Italian and Dante just so that I could keep up with what sometimes read as a combination between an interesting and engaging university lecture or a highly intellectual conversation. However alas even though I loved these references and uses of literature and culture etc it was also why this book didn't quite make it to my 5-star and/or favourites shelf.

I completely acknowledge that many people have a great faith in God and completely respect anyones religious beliefs. However for me the frequent religious references were a bit too much for me, and for most of my country God isn't really important. It's not that the religious references bothered me because of my lack of belief but more so that at times I felt like I couldn't relate. Also I felt like Gabriel's attempt to revirginise Julie towards the end of the story was taking it a bit too far.

However that is really only the bad thing I have to say about this book, about both of the books in the Gabriel's inferno series. They are beautifully written, the characters are deep and well developed and take a journey with you throughout the story. I particularly liked Gabriel's shift from cold and broken to passionate and then to trusting, caring and revitalised. Also Julieanne shift from a naive virgin to a strong willed women who could stand up for herself and ascert her beliefs was also a journey that I enjoyed.

This book got so far in my head that I couldn't sleep last night from thinking of it and I actually gave up at about 4.30am and got up and finished it.

Sad it's over ;(

Once I got used to this style of writing I enjoyed it...relaxed a little bit more even though Gabriel is so formal. It was also very interesting reading a romance novel by someone of the male persuasion. Do men really look at women like that anymore?

To me, Gabriel's Rapture was better than Gabriel's Inferno. I wasn't sure I was going to move on to the 2nd book but I'm glad I did. I discovered the intensity of the characters and could see the scenery of Florence, Belize and Umbria ...more

I enjoyed Gabriel and Julianne's story immensely. I feel like if I were to do a review now, that there is no way I would be able to do it justice. So sad for their story to end, but was glad to think of where they were headed. Rarely I think does a love story come along that not only tugs on your heart strings, but also makes an impression in your mind as well as the heart. Gabriel's Rapture did that to me. This was such a beautiful story and I enjoyed it much more than the first in the series, Gabriel's Inferno. Sylvain Reynard outdid himself with this one and deserves all the high praise he's been getting. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes romance books with substance and depth. ...more
