I always enjoy this story but that's not surprising given I enjoy gothic literature. If you haven't read it, it is categorized as a short story by most and often can be found in collections alongside of Rip Van Winkle.

Read for group Once Upon a Time.... I bet the cartoon that I remember from decades ago is better. Brom's role is shown in basically one sentence. Most of the story is set-up and to a different point, which point eludes me.
The vocabulary in this is difficult even for me, and I think Irving made up some words, too. At least the edition that I read is a large print slim paperback, which made it easy to decode.

I expected this book to be more frightening, based solely on how many movies I know have been made based on it. In the end, it was a fun sort of scary story one would tell around a campfire. I'm glad I finally got to experience the silliness and spookiness of Sleepy Hollow.

I hadn’t read this because I thought it was a horror story. I guess it kind of is, but it is not that scary. I also thought it was a long book, but it’s very short! I’m glad I finally read it.
