This really was an excellent introduction to Norse mythology, presented in the magically capable hands of Mr. Gaiman. All the classic stories (with all their giants, trickery, snow, and magic) were here from the beginning to the fiery end. Hopefully this adaptation will inspire people to delve deeper into both the history and tradition of Norse myth as there are lots more stories to share…

To be honest I've not before read any of the original Norse myths. I knew what exposure to pop culture and stories that used them as a template or launching pad had taught me and little else, so it was great to come across this and finally learn what the brass tacks are.

The writing style is largely like a standard book of myths would read, but every now and again you get a lovely Gaiman bit of flair and you just know he couldn't resist adding that detail or joke.

This book was like sitting in Neil Gaimans living room and listening to him tell about Odin, Thor, and Loki. It felt close, comfortable, and personal. It was a quick read, but the way he interpreted all of the stories made the mythology make so much more sense. I really enjoyed it.

Clean reads advisory: There were a few sexual references, so I would recommend an audience of 14+.
