Rhis book feels like if a 80s or 90s action movie mixed with 90s or early 00s tournament based competition based reality show. so because of that the book feels at least to me extremely outdated, especially the references in the book. 3.5, but I'll round down. great starring character, even some of the secondary characters (more non-Earthmen than not). interesting concept, lots of blood n guts n violence sprinkled with introspection n TRUE LOVE n big business. rather strong sword & sorcery tale too. some distastefulness for me, a few glossed over tidbits, but well-written enough to have me power read through it and want to see where the next book in the series goes.

Other reviews refer to this as being action packed. They ain't kiddin'!
At first I had a hard time with the basic concept of the novel - that actors are transported to mirror world (albeit a magical, medieval, fantasy world) to go on adventures and let viewers experience the adventure through their eyes. Once I finally swallowed that rather large pill, the book started rolling.
