The opening is gorgeous, filled with the pleasant senescence of the Vadhagh people, who enjoy their decline and for whom nothing is worth real bother--not their eternal war with the Nhadragh people, and not even their own contemplative pursuits. They are fey in the olden Tolkien sense, drawing from the same sources and traditions. But they are rational, scientific creatures, with no sorcerous tradition.
This gets knocked down quickly. Corum is dragged into Mabden--human--affairs and takes on some ...more

The Knight of Swords, by Michael Moorcock is a book that I actually have read before. Sometime during my early years of high school, I got my hands on it. In fact it was one of the first strings of books I read for pleasure and not because I had too for some school assignment.
I grew up with profound dyslexia. I had to attend special 'Learning Center' classes and was always years behind in writing and reading. What helped me overcome this limitation... well, Dungeons and Dragons. I loved the game ...more

A great sword and sorcery story, Michael Moorcock does it best, complete with alternate universes, plenty of sword-wielding battles, and sex.
Corum is the hero in this series and if you like his other eternal champion Elric you will like this one. If you like Conan, Death Dealer, Kothar, or authors, Robert Howard, Poul Anderson, L. Sprague De Camp you will like this traditional sword and sorcery story/series.
