I don't often round up but I will with this book. The last 60% was very good. The first 20% I was really wondering if I was going to make it through the book. This was an audiobook for me and often when I don't like one I start to question if it was the narrator. In this case I think the narrator kept me going in the early stages and was excellent.
The book has an eastern flair to it and examines those values and religious aspects well. Hopefully Adare has a larger part in the future books. Her ...more

Very enjoyable adult fantasy read. Not enough of these types of books out there. Reminiscent of Sanderson, Rothfuss, Martin, & Stover. I'll read the book again to pick up on anything I may have missed.
