Weird. Apparently I'm a bigger fan of post-apocalyptic books than I gave myself credit for. I actually liked this book a lot. It was very melodramatic, too much in some spots and I felt like she kind of punked out at the ending, but the softie in me kind of liked it. For maximum impact though, I would have left off the epilogue...

I always start talking about this book with the phrase, it's not like Twilight. It's definitely not. This an incredible what if story. I kind of like the idea of a alien species taking over, for our own good, that isn't insidious. Meyers asks some pretty interesting questions in this tale.
Sure you might be able to guess the ending, but if you have a heart, you'll be in tears as you turn the pages. ...more

I read this about a year ago. I enjoyed it too, better than Twilight, in Twilight it took me to page 180 to get interested in it, and I didn't like Bella that much in the end or beginning. The character Wanda does seem a bit of a push over, too much so. Also I HATE her name! Wanda?? what is this the fairly oddparents? Its not an attractive name, so that kind of set me off a bit too. :p

Would have liked it better if not for the last two chapters. Not terrible--quick reading likable characters, interesting premise. Less SF and more relationship novel. Better than I expected given the author's rampant popularity. Did not like the ending.

To be honest, I did not finish this book. I couldn't concentrate long enough to get past the first chapter. That doesn't mean anything at all against the writer. I will give the book another try on a later date!

I'm still not worming up with this book... and it was very confusing in the beginning... hope its gonna get better soooooon!
I finally finished this book after almost six months, I got an audio book of it from a friend, otherwise I don't think I would have finished it! Unfortunately I didn't really warm up to the story, sometimes it was gripping like when she tried to help, but over all I wasn't really into the book.
I don't really know how to rate this book so I guess I'll give it a two stars... ...more

I know this is a good author because I read her "twilight series". I did not enjoy this book, gave it a shot until page 75 and had to put it down. Just wasn't for me.

In a completely different class to Meyer's other books. This was such a thought-provoking and enjoyable read.
