Jules Verne, you did an amazing job.
What can I say this book took my breath away. I read it during my exam season so it took me a while to finish it or how my brother likes to put it "eighty days to complete."
I was recommended this by a friend. She idolizes the author as her first language is French. I wish I could've read it in original script but as that isn't possible I had to read it in Penguin Classic edition but they don't disappoint either. I felt nostalgic when I read sophisticated sente ...more

This is an adventure story, a "steam-driven fairy tale" (says James Hynes in the introduction) -- for grownups. And more charming still it is some proof that the so-called straight-laced Victorians liked a good, light-hearted story just like we do. It is a fun story full of unlikely events, mistaken identities, brave risks, and a little romance. My cup of tea.

It was good to actually read the book because I've always heard about the story. This seemed nearly like steampunk because it used some unorthodox methods of travel when needed, but it was written in the 1800's. A good read.

This used to be one of my favourite books when I was a child, together with Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland and Little Women, That's why it gets 4 stars. I should read it again though.
