IT MIGHT NOT BE WHAT I EXPECTED BUT I ENJOYED IT ALL THE SAME! 💚
This is not the usual type of sequel. It takes place 15 years after the first book and does not revolve around Offred/June. Still, I enjoyed going back to Gilead and learning more about the early days as well as the later ones. And getting to learn Aunt Lydia's story was just pure satisfaction!

I really loved The Testaments for the most part! As weird as this might sound to some people, I actually enjoyed this book more than The Handmaid's Tale. That being said, the structure of the plot did cause me to have a hard time keeping all of the characters straight in my mind from time to time throughout the book, and it also made it kind of difficult to follow the plot of the book at times at well. Other than that, I loved The Testaments, and I'm really glad that I read it! :)

Good sequel
The Testaments was a good sequel to the Handmaid’s Tale but I think it fell far short of the original, which I believe is absolutely brilliant. While it was an entertaining read, I don’t think it quite lived up to the hype and I don’t think it is deserving of the Booker Prize. Compared to the Handmaid’s Tale and to The Blind Assassin, this book was just disappointing. I know Atwood can do better.

While it's no Handmaid's Tale, The Testaments was very readable. I'd hoped for more of the stark, dark, surreal beauty of the first book, but didn't find it. A fine read if you don't have expectations that it match the previous title in tone and presentation.
