3.5 stars. I wanted to love this book but there was entirely too much going on. There were 500 underlying plots and it never allowed me to root for the team. Sadly this book just fell short. I had whiplash by the end and I was ready for the impending doom. I can see why so many loved but I felt like this book tried to take on too much. Elizabeth Marx is a great storyteller. I have read so many romance books in the past year but this one to me was more than your typical old love, lost love type of story. Her writing is smart and fluent and the characters are so vivid, you can picture them as if you knew them from across the street.
