Love Evolution begins with Avery discovering her twin brother was murdered and the person behind his death is now after her to pay off her brother’s debt. Avery is broke now that the band she and her brother co-founded died along with him. When her manager gets an audition lined up for a popular rock band, things start looking up.

The problem is the band is looking for a male lead guitarist. Desperate, Avery agrees to disguise herself as a man and gets the gig. Her manager teams her up 3.5 Stars

Avery is broke now that the band she and her brother co-founded died along with him. When her manager gets an audition lined up for a popular rock band, things start looking up.

The problem is the band is looking for a male lead guitarist. Desperate, Avery agrees to disguise herself as a man and gets the gig. Her manager teams her up with a celebrity stylist to transform her into a believable guy. For a while, I could see how this might work. Long term? Not so much. Besides the fact that was a bit unrealistic after a while, I still enjoyed this story…for the most part.

The book is written in third person with alternating POV’s and I think it would have been more appropriate for at least one of the characters’ to become suspicious. Again, this bothered me slightly, but I overlooked it. However, things started to go a little downhill toward the ending.

The entire book is focused on a certain group of people, then all of the sudden it veers off to some other celebrity and her staff. The celebrity chick was definitely a part of the story, but I don’t think hearing directly from her added to the story, especially not the drama going on within her team. Unfortunately, after that the story is rushed and the events leading up to the end feel forced.

Which brings me to the actual ending. Some people will probably not mind the way this book ends, but it was a little too tied up for me – too hasty. I think after the resolution it would have been best to add an epilogue taking place a while down the road. I don’t want to go into too much detail, but it felt unnatural.

Overall, it’s not a bad book. I really liked Avery and Marcus, and most of the other characters (Marcus’ family in particular). Marcus and Avery have great chemistry, and there were times when I laughed out loud at Marcus' feelings towards her when he thought she was a dude. The plot was interesting and unique; it’s not your typical rock and roll love story. If some aspects of the story were reworked a little, I would absolutely adore this book. It's got great reviews, so obviously there are those who love it just the way it is.

I would recommend this one to those who enjoy a little rock music mixed in with their romance and don’t mind a quick HEA.

This book is just like the movie, She’s the Man, instead of it being about soccer it’s about music. I enjoyed the book very much and really like Avery and the band all together. It was a fast read and a very cute romance book.
