Georgia Tann tried to look like she was helping children, but the atrocities committed during her black market "adoptions" were unbelievable. The Tennessee Children's Home Society and the actions of Georgia Tann were a piece of history I was not familiar with before reading this book. The family of children featured in this book were adorable, and the story-line went back and forth from the past to present day. The admirable courage displayed by the main character in going after the truth even i

Rill’s chapters were painfully captivating. I couldn’t put the book down during those sections. It was sad, but also ultimately hopeful and informative.
Unfortunately I didn’t find Avery’s chapters nearly as compelling. The characters seemed too one dimensional.
Still, the historical awareness this book brings makes it a worthwhile read.

Amazing! This book kept me engaged from the very beginning and the dual timeline unfolded the story brilliantly. I can see why this book was listed as one of the best of the year.
It is sad to know that this was based on true events and that children were taken from their families. I am want to read some of the recommendations used to research this topic that the author suggests at the end of the book.
