This was my first experience with magical realism. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.

Also, I am not a romantic, so the fact that the main point of this book is the "love" between Tita and Pedro (the basis of which was unclear to me) was irritating to me.

That said, it was well-written and I loved the way the recipes were integrated into the story.

This book was written through a series of recipes. I thought it was a creative and interesting story. The author had a fun way of adding significance to the recipes in the story.
