Mark Watney is on Mars. Alone. With no way of communicating with earth, limited food and water and no get-out-of-jail-free card. So how does this make a book that is fascinating, action-packed and with a main character that I came to hugely admire? Through the magnificent storytelling of Andy Weir is how.

Didn't like it as much as the 2nd time around.
I saw that this was a possible contender for a 2014 Goodreads Choice Award. Eh, I'm not really into sci-fi, but I never read new releases and I actually wanted to be able to vote in this year's choice awards. OMG. This book was excellent. I was astounded at his battle to survive the planet Mars. All the science was believable and logical. I felt like I learned a few survival skills (that I hope I will never have to put into practice). I went online and was able to find schematics to a Mars HAB similar to what Mark lived in – I could follow the term

Loved it. Couldn't give it a 5 because the scientific jargon got a bit tedious at times. And the language was a bit rough, of course. But, yeah, overall---loved it.
