Ayaan writes beautifully and I admire her for her courage to leave a terrible situation and start fresh in a new country and culture, master yet another new language, and become a politician. That is why i gave it four stars. for her description of Islam, i would give her zero stars. As a biography, I recommend this book. As a piece of literature, I recommend this book. As an insight into the role religion plays in both politics and identity (not to mention political identity), I recommend this book. That said, I still don't know how I feel about this book, or even its writer, Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
