I was wary before I turned the first page because I had seen all of the awful reviews. Maybe that helped. Because I went into this with such low expectations. Before I read it, I expected this review would contain much asshole-ripping and plot hole verification. It will not. Contrary to the masses, I liked Allegiant, probably more than I liked Insurgent.

I really enjoyed this book, not least because I always feel a little let down in the dystopian series that don't give us enough of the world they are building, especially a sense of the past and the motivations for people's actions (Maze Runner anyone?). So even though many people are let down with the ending, I thought it made sense within the world itself and appreciated it. I honestly couldn't remember who was who half the time because I just didn't care! Nevertheless, I finished the book because I wanted to know what all of the buzz was about... and I do have to say that I admired Roth's willingness to fully commit to the characters. The ending was not a total surprise because she did a good job of setting the stage, not just in this book but in the other two books of the trilogy.
