There were a lot of things I liked about Divergent. The characters were well drawn and engaging. The story was fast paced and exciting and kept me reading. The romance was real and compelling. I really loved Tris's relationship with her mother. However, I only gave the book four stars because I didn't like the violence.

I found Divergent to be an exciting, fast-paced book that brought up some important issues, without hitting the reader over the head with them. For example, what does it mean to belong somewhere? And, if you live with a group that has certain values, do you have to either hold to all of them or leave? If you do leave, do you have to completely assimilate to your new community? Can you ever belong in two places at once?

Wow. I knew it was going to be good because some people that I highly respect recommended it to me. I just wish I didn't wait months to pick it up. Although, now that i have to wait another 2 months for the sequel, I'm glad I didn't finish it too early. ;-) Such a complicated world on the surface...but very quickly I was fully immersed in the factions and felt like I knew it well. I love the characters...even those that I'm sure if I'm still supposed to love or not. ;-) I guess I'll make my fina

Loving this book! Can't wait to read the second one. Have to get a few more copies for my library. Next Hunger Games for my kids.
