I'm always impressed by how different Maggie Stiefvater's series are. I have enjoyed all her books. Most authors stick to one genre/niche of storytelling, but she successfully branches into to various areas. Werewolves, fairies, psychic and ancient magic, and more. This one centered on a small island and its tradition of racing the deadly water horses that plague the shores. It is an honored right, but deadly all the same. The first couple of chapters we a little hard for me to keep straight (Puck is a girl?) but I did a combo of listening to it and reading it and found it kept my attention.

I would not recommend for anyone younger than 16, simply because of the mature themes.
