This was a unique twist on a Beauty and the Beast retelling. Prince Rhen is cursed to live the autumn over and over again in an enchanted castle, and each time the winter comes, he turns into a beast that ravages the land until the season resets.

Great quick and fun read. I love fairytale retelling and this one was a great Beauty and the Beast, break the curse one! I also loved that the heroine had a disability and how the author wrote about it. Harper is from our world, Washington, DC and is drawn into another world by magic. She struggles between finding a way home or helping the people she comes across. Finished it the same day the second book comes out, now I can’t wait to read it.

There was a lot I enjoyed about this book. I liked that it was a re-telling without being a major rip-off, and the characters were well thought out. To be honest, I didn’t like the multi-perspective 1st person style. It got quite confusing and the writing would have been more enjoyable if it had been 3rd person as it would have forced the author to show the characters’ feelings rather than using “I felt XYZ”.
I’ll definitely continue the series as it was a fun, quick read.
