You might like Eragon. I always found it a Lord of the Rings meets Star Wars plot rip off (considering Star Wars was heavily inspired by Indian Mythology... that's not even clever) I mean, main character is Eragon, Elven love interest is... her name was Arya. Wizard helping friend? Named Brom. He was basically everything Gandalf was. There was a dragon, seeing as he's a dragon rider... It's fine, but it was pretty tired for me. I did not enjoy this as much as I thought I would. I had heard good things about it but I found it to lack somewhat. It reminded me of a much lesser LOTR or Hobbit. I have the second book but I'm not sure whether I will read it or not. ...more
