Sometimes it's hard to describe your love for a book without sounding sycophantic. I can tell you that I'm the biggest Alec and Magnus shipper out there (because I am) and that eight out of my past 11 tweets have been about City of Lost Souls, but I don't think I can properly convey my love for this series unless I talk about its characters.

There are so many aspects of this book that I just absolutely loved! Im not even sure where to begin.
First thing I love about this book is the change in Clary. To be clear I've never disliked Clary but she did frustrate me quite a bit in the previous books. But my God! I feel like she redeemed herself in this book.

We start right into the story after City of Fallen Angels left off and Jace went missing from the rooftop and Sebastian/ Jonathan the-demon-blood-dead-guy was now missing with Jace. Everybody is looking for Jace. Alec senses he is still alive but something is not right. After two weeks of missing the Clave changes their focus and stops looking for Jace. Clary and her friends go see the faire Queen to see if she can help them find Jace. She agrees to help them if they bring her two Shadowhunter

I thought that this book was written very well, I've found with The Mortal Instruments series that there is never a dull moment, and the frequent point of view changes are very refreshing. This definantly had a very good plot and many opportunities to become emersed with the story. I found myself unable to put the book down as it was very good. I quite liked the ending in the book and the resolution whilst it also makes a climactic ending that allows for a sequel. I really can't wait to read the

Yes, I only rated City of Lost Souls two stars. I really enjoyed the first three books: they were wonderful and exciting. Then the next books happened and the excitement dissipated. This fifth book in the series has some of what I’ve seen called “second book syndrome”. Book 4 felt like a first in a new series and was lacking the spark the original 3 books had. For most of City of Lost souls I felt like nothing much happened. This book was mostly filler, 550 pages of mostly filler. When things di
