Oh Will. You make my cry. I still love you. You're still my favorite shadowhunter EVER! :(
Merged review:
LOVED seeing the attic scene from Will's POV. Not only do I love to see his vulnerable side but I really got a good insight into the real Will. I know he comes off as a pretentious asshole but there's obviously a reason he's so closed off. He's been hurt before in the past, perhaps? Or he's loved and lost and is afraid to go through that pain again? So many possibilities and yet I can't help b ...more

I have mixed feelings about this book. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I haven't read The Mortal Instruments series before. The plot and the characters felt too familiar and predictable for me to be truly engaged in the story.
Will is basically a carbon copy of Jace. I have a little problem with that, because I don't want Cassie Clare to announce in City of Heavenly Fire that Jace is Will reincarnated.
Tessa is a more reasonable and level-headed version of Clary.

I fell in love with this book and its characters. Kind Charlotte, Goofy Henry, Calm Jem, Rude, but Witty Will, Independent Tessa. It was so hard to put down, and I almost cried when I finished it, at 1:00 am. I didn't want it to end. I cannot wait to read Clockwork Prince, Clockwork Princess, and all of the the short stories .
< Spoiler Alert> I hope that Jem lives. He's so nice to read about. It kind of calms me down! Whereas reading about Will is more...exciting. He cracks me up, but he got st ...more

Okay, so I've a weakness for CC and TMI as an entity. I was so waiting for this series.
Probably shouldn't have to compare it to TMI as ID is a totally different area, but still... can't help myself, sorry:)
At the beginning it was strange to read, I got myself into is slowly perhaps because it's more darker all the way than TMI.
What I loved most that characters are all charismatic, fun and complex as you already got used to with CC.
I guess that was the main thing that really got me into the story ...more

An amazing read! The characters are, while completely different, all generally lovable. The main female character actually isn't annoying, for once. The setting, Victorian London, is one of my favourite things to read about. The story is imaginative, the writing witty, and I love the fact that each chapter begins with a bit of classic Victorian poetry :). I suggest this to anyone who is a fan of paranormal romance.

Wow! What can I say that hasn't already been said about this great series?! I may just like it a smidgen more than TMI. Tessa is amazing! But why did Will have to act like such an a** at the end?? I need answers! lol ...Can't wait to read Clockwork Prince, but first I need to read City of the Fallen Angels.
