Okay, I know. How did I ever get to my advanced age without reading any Jane Austen? Because I deliberately avoided reading Jane Austen, that's how. It took my friend Paul to look at me with amazment on his face and say, "I can't believe that you have never read anything by Jane Austen. That really surprises me and not in a good way." to get me into gear. Fine. I read Jane Austen. I liked it okay. But I'm not rushing out to read more. My second or third read. This time around I definitely had a new understanding of Mr. Bennet and why exactly, while amusing, he is just as bad as the rest of his family. Still great as it always is. Austen's economy of language is amazing, and her characterizations are excellent. ...more

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. Seriously, this book was AMAZING. I found myself laughing out loud and nearly crying at some parts. Mr. Darcy is hot and Lydia and Wickham are such douchebags. And don't get me started on Lady Catherine and Miss Bingley. I recommend that everyone I know reads this book. This is one of the few books I will read over and over. ...more
