Shelves: classics
The main character is extremely unlikeable. The deeds are hideous. But it was hard to put the book down. The story is told in the first person and some parts didn’t add up. I found myself trying to figure out the real truth as the narrator probably was lying or deranged.

Beautiful, disturbing, compelling to the end.

"He broke my heart. You just broke my life."

You can spend a whole book just desperately wanting to see something go another direction. Who would she have been if he hadn't taken her from her. It's essentially a wish for the story to not exist.
