Shelves: adult-fiction, royalty, signed-copies, new-author-to-me, books-i-own, 5-star-reads, dragons, fantasy, read-in-2013, book-to-tv

I'm not going to write a full review of this one, but I will say that I heavily enjoyed reading this. Such a vivid world created filled with memorable characters. The twists you never see coming and the deceptions run deep. Don't trust anyone and don't get attached to anyone.

A word of advice, maybe watch at least the first season before reading. Having seen the show definitely helped me in keeping everyone straight in my head. There's just so many people with similar names. ...more

Loved this - it's not easy to read and keep everything straight as there is so much going on BUT I wanted to. It's so well written that I was invested in the characters and the story. And of course, I want to immediately delve into the 2nd book. ...more

But he's also left me with a bit of a dilemma. He killed NED! He killed off the only character I actually liked and cared about! What the heck????

So here's the thing - I really did like this book, but I thought it was a bit too long. He seemed overly focused on bits of detail that probably didn't need to be focused on. And overly obsessed with ladybits. I skimmed a lot of pages ...more
