Hollywood is in the process of making One for the Money by Janet Evanovich, staring Katherine Heigl as Stephanie Plum. With luck it will be half as good as the book, a box office success, and therefore inducing them to develop the rest of the series. Right now Evanovich is up to Smokin' Seventeen (with a few holiday side specials). Because of the movie, I’m sure more people will be picking up this book, the first in a series, as JE does a hilarious job of blending Stephanie Plum’s character as ‘ ...more

I'm not sure why I waited so long to try this book. I think the cover threw me off. Strange, I know, and you should 'never judge a book it's cover,' I know, but there was something about it that put me off. I'm glad I took the whim and dug it out the To Be Read pile, though, as Stephanie Plum now has a new delighted fan who is eager to read the rest of her stories.

The plot is a great one, where Stephanie is as hard on her luck as she can get, having to work for a slimy relative to bring in the m

There are some men who enter a woman's life and screw it up forever.

This is the first book in the Stephanie Plum series. I can't believe that I originally read it in the 90s when it was released. We are introduced to Stephanie as an out of work lingerie buyer. After six months without a job she turns to her cousin Vinnie to work as a skip tracer(bounty hunter). Her first case is Joe Morelli, a local vice cop wanted for murder. Stephanie is a disaster on two feet. She gets in some of the most int

Brilliant had me laughing out loud so often I kept getting funny looks. Starting number two right now!

I am not usually into Mystery or crime books but the humour and on/off romance with Morelli and Ranger which I can see coming in the distance was enough to keep me hooked!

I LUV Stephanie Plum...She is the perfect "real life" heroine.
The girl that lets you know that the road to where you want to be doesn't always follow the map that you plotted before you left the house. Getting from A to B with Miss Plum and the wacky cast of characters in this book is definately an sdventure that I wouldn't miss for the world. Stephanie has to be the Forrest Gump of the bail bonds game. Don't count her out! She will get her man and her mother's pot roast.

Delightful! I totally love Stephanie Plum and have no idea why it took me so long to jump on the bandwagon. She is funny, irreverent, and plucky. Morelli is amusing and a good strong personality match for her. Together, with all of the other crazy but realistic characters in their lives, they handle an interesting mystery. I liked how Stephanie became a bounty hunter--kind of accidentally but pretty realistically. Her rookie mistakes were believable, and I loved how she buckled down and tried to ...more

I enjoyed this book. Stephanie is a feisty non-heroine. Why have I not read these books before? I don't know who is playing her in the movie but I picture someone like Ann Hathaway or Sandra Bullock. The characters are really well fleshed out and enjoyable. (view spoiler) ...more
