Shelves: crime, mystery, science-fiction, police-procedural

I feel slightly embarrassed to admit I absolutely loved this. A great combination of romance and crime. I really liked the fact that Roarke was completely into Eve from the first time he met her. I really enjoyed the slight sci fi elements too. So pleased to see there are many in the series as they are perfect as a light read. I just hope they don't become too formulaic.

This is my first J.D. Robb book and I really liked it, but I wasn't terribly flipped over the future time setting...I guess. Had I read the blurb, I would've known but I rarely do. I mainly care about the genre and cover and (at times) if it fits a challenge. LOL Overall though I liked it because it is a good murder mystery. Eve Dallas is the detective on the case and, as luck would have it, she is terribly attracted to Roarke, one of the suspects. The killer is targeting prostitutes but he's al ...more

This is the first book I have read by JD Robb. I haven't ever really been into suspense novels much. This was a really good read though. I found that it had a good mix of suspense and romance. I definitely plan on reading more by JD Robb. ...more

4 stars. My first time reading Nora Roberts and if the writing of her as J.D. Robb is anything to go by, I can see why she's such a prolific author.

I loved the writing. The world building and set up was really cool and I loved reading about it since it's set in the future. The little nuances and everything was fascinating. I enjoy a good murder/crime novel and this was definitely that. Eve Dallas is a cop and a very interesting character with a horrible past. She's strong and smart and so well ...more

This series is something I just put off reading, no specific reason. I like things by Nora Roberts especially her romantic suspense which this is similar to. I haven't cared for some of the fantasy trilogies though and thought these might be along those lines.
