What Members Thought

Thoroughly enjoyed this! I enjoyed the film too. I wouldn’t probably have read this if it hadn’t met the criteria for 3 different reading challenges I’m doing, but I’m so glad I did. It’s 100% YA though, so if you struggle with books for that audience, maybe give it a miss! Dystopia, one of a kind skills,, romance...this story does however morph into a more dystopian, political and dark story towards the end.

I seriously loved this book! When I first heard the premise of the book, I thought it was just another version of the Hunger Games. After hearing from others that they liked the story, I though t I would give it a try. I ended up loving it. It's a story about a personal journey and learning to be honest and accepting of yourself. Yay, there's action and romance that juice up the story, but I like where the overall premise of the story is going. Definitely give it a shot.

This was a bit slow to get going for me. All people when they turn 16 have to choose a faction to be a part of or become factionless (outcasts). MC Beatrice (Tris) gets inconclusive results meaning she fits into more than one faction; she is Divergent. We follow her through training and her crush/romance with Four one of the trainers.
