4.5 stars
When I first started reading it and noticed the abbreviated, choppy style, I thought oh no at first, not one like Girl, Interrupted! Thankfully it's clear soon enough it's not like that and the writing is actually poetically quaint and beautiful.

Something happened to Melinda and is consuming her life both literally and figuratively. I found it difficult to get into this book but once I did i really enjoyed it. The language and imagery is fabulous. The story line riveting. Melinda is powerfully drawn by the author whilst other characters are less so.
