Shelves: dissapointing, dystopian, shorn-shelf

Read The Handmaid's Tale they told me, You'll love it since you like dystopian so much. Margaret Atwood is such an amazing author they told me, You'll love her. All of you that said that to me..You lied right through your damn teeth. Did your nose grow any as you were saying this to me? This is the worst dystopian novel I have ever read. Wow is all I can say. Are we sure Margaret Atwood doesn't have access to a time machine?? She describes so eloquently the way a group can take over a society during a time of crisis and the way various people adapt. There are so many parallels to what is happening in the U.S. right now, I certainly hope this fictional fantasy novel doesn't become true.

Yes, I'm shelving it under Horror. I'm also going to be swearing a lot in the review. It's the kind of book that elicits sheer red and blinding rage.

The Handmaid's Tale is one of those books I was really torn about wanting to read. On one hand, it's a female-focused dystopian story, and I do love my worldbuilding.
