I read this while on a camping trip with my family.
Maybe it was because I was surrounded by love and family fun. Maybe it was because we were grimy and dirty and sweaty from camping.

Wow is this book a bit creepy and deep. Definitely not a quick read but it is engrossing. Makes you stop and think about who is good and evil in the world. Definitely need to remember the era it was written in when reading it. A good classic that isn't necessarily heavily read. ...more

Despite knowing the story, I don't think that I have ever actually read the full book before. It is a real character study of Dorian Gray. There is definitely a thin line between love and hate, and this book straddled that line for me.

It started out great. We meet Henry and Basil while they are visiting and then Dorian comes along. Basil holds Dorian on a pedestal based on his beauty. He idolizes him and he is also doing a portrait of him. (Yes, the portrait.) Henry is also enamored of Dorian, but he is a vain and selfish creature and basically wants to become to Dorian what Dorian

I have read and enjoyed this before but this time I listened to it on audio. I was not impressed by the audio I found the narrator unconvincing and there were times when i had to replay parts to make sure i heard everything. The story still stands up well but the problems with the audio reduced that enjoyment
