If ever a sentence was loaded, the one above wins. The past isn’t as far away as it seems, certainly if you look around the world there are still women living with restrictions that lead to abuse and even death if she ‘disobeys’. I really enjoyed this book but I am not sure about my friends liking it since you would spend most of the time being depressed about the sad circumstances. I love a good depressing book, bonus for being written as a diary and with such a great sense of time and place. Good stuff :)
