I first heard of Heart of Darkness about 35 years ago when Apocalypse Now was released. I tried to read it a couple times, but couldn't get into it, which I blamed on myself. I finally made it through this time by listening to the Kenneth Branagh audio version. (Which deserves about 6 stars). And after all that, I have to say, the movie was better.

Shelved as Congo because it's set there - I wasn't finished with Africa after Blood River. Wanted to read this for ages, and kind of enjoyed it, but ultimately it felt a little pointless. Where was the story? So what? Passed me by a little.
