WOW!! OF the 59 books I read so far in 2014, "I Am Pilgrim" is my favorite by miles(like Secretariat lapping the field in 1973 Belmont)! This a must read! Excellent story even though all the global bad guys conveniently ended up in the same tiny seaside town. The author detailed the scenario with such authority I never bothered to look up the feasibility, even though it stretched credulity. Very well done over all, but l-o-n-g.

Although this may sound like a tribute to persons from our First Thanksgiving, the actual plot is far from that, and it is definitely a story one will not forget.

‘Pilgrim’ is the code name chosen by a man who has no desire to live. The adopted son of a very wealthy family, he has always been a loner; a perfect start in life, placing him on the path to becoming a secret agent.

A great book: highly recommended.

Whether you're a fan of espionage-based thrillers or not, there's a lot to like and little to criticise in this power-packed rocket of a novel. Fellow writers should pay especial attention to Terry Hayes' brilliant development of intrigue and his use of packet-sized chapters to propel readers forwards into the storyline.

As near 5* as can be - for me. Superbly researched, with many plot details and character histories/'war stories, this is a big book (300,000 words?).

I did manage to put it down a couple of times, but it was at that level where I held back, so that I could treat myself to a couple of chapters as a reward for hard work (I'm currently renovating my boat)!

Topical and wide-ranging, Hayes interleaves two differing but ultimately linked plots. This may be the one tenuous area, in addition to a couple ...more

Shelves: thriller, 5-stars, read-2018

If you’re looking for a solid action thriller that is long (over 700 pages) and delivers an in-depth look at both sides of the issue of modern day terrorism, I Am Pilgrim is the book for you. Extremely well-written with an excellent story and a thrill ride of an adventure.
