There is no question why Hammett is still popular today. He knows how to write.

Hammett is very obviously a great writer and you can see why this book is so well liked, but ultimately a little too violent for me.
Considering that one of the corpses shares a name with one of my clients, there was no way that I wasn't going to love this. Hammett gets that gritty, corrupt, low-down-and-dirty scene better than anyone, and this one's a prime example. Awesome stuff.
