I don't dislike this book, but there were a few things that really bugged me: (1) the two points of view were badly done. The voices were so similar that I kept forgetting who was talking. (2) There seems to be a lot of forshadowing, but nothing ever comes of it. (3) Lastly there are some characters whose actions just don't make sense.
I loved the first two books, and this one is definitely worth reading as a conclusion of the trilogy, but it is just not as well done as the other two. ...more

Allegiant? ALLEGIANT????? really? I was really counting on an "urgent" ending ... Is "allegiant" even a word? Spellcheck doesn't think so ...

It would not be correct to say that I'm disappointed, because I read a lot of reviews trashing this book, so my expectations were low. Very low. And in fact, it's better than I expected. But it does not live up to the excitement and promise of the first book. This book is fun and interesting and a bit of a page-turner, but ... it's just kind of ... blah.

Books 18-20 of 2013: The Divergent series by Veronica Roth. I read this whole series as one book as I believe that is best way to tackle this series. The series is a YA dystopian story that takes place in a post-apocolyptic Chicago. Insurgent (#2) and Allegiant (#3) start off in the exact moment (give or take a few minutes) where the previous book leaves off, which is one of the reasons that I read this as one large book rather than separate books.
