The history of the tulip and how it came to be associated with Netherlands. A very detailed and interesting history about a plant that originated in the Orient and made its way west. The author discusses the history of migration (and the politics of the countries it migrated through), the economics, the evolution - just about everything associated with this very popular flower. I will admit I am taking a break because the detail can get overwhelming! Will return to it, however, after a while.

Fun book, especially the first few chapters. This is real history, along with excellent economic context--showing that bubbles and fads have occurred for centuries.
