If you’re looking for a good horror novel for the beach, The Elementals would be an excellent choice. Unfortunately the author died in 1999, so his books are mostly out-of-print. Still, they’re definitely worth seeking out. Spooky stories perfect for October are usually set, in my mind, in the pines of Maine or the mountains of Colorado, thanks to Stephen King, or the shores of California, per Dean Koontz. This one caught my eye on a list of well-written books because the author is from my home state of Alabama.
