And I am off...off for a year of Oz.
Lory at Entering the Enchanted Castle will start a readalong of the Oz books by L. Frank Baum. The Book Stop, home of a fellow Oz fan, will be joining Lory as co-host.
There are 14 books, and the plan is to start in December and read in published order through January of 2025.

Read this out loud to 5 year old. It has been at least 25 years since I have seen the movie, so I don't recall much of what it was about, but I am pretty sure the book is entirely different. We both really enjoyed it. It is also the first book either of us have ever read digitally on the nexus...I have a lot to say about reading digital books. I really like paper much better...but I will save my rant for later.

Finished this--it was fun, but doubt I'll real the others.
I found this whole series free for kindle and decided to try the first book. I never cared for the movie, but the book, so far is enjoyable, so I intend to finish it. I don't know if I'll read all the others or not though. I DO tend to enjoy series though! ...more

A classic of children's literature, I think I liked the 1938 movie better. Rather ironic that in the prologue he says he wanted to write a fairy tale without violence -- there is still quite a bit of it throughout the story.
