Fun, but because of the similar episodes compared to the first one and the formulaic structure, this got a bit boring after a while. Poppins is still fortunately left as a mystery, but as a whole this might work better if it's not read immediately after the first one. Children might enjoy the similar structure, though. ...more

My kids and I love, love LOVE the film version of Mary Poppins, but the literary original is no sweet Julie Andrews. In fact, she's downright mean and abusive to the kids and most people she encounters, but they all seem to love her regardless. She does and says things that would get her fired, if not arrested, today. Still, there is something compelling about the story, and a lot of the cool scenes from the movie are in this second book of the series, not the first one. I don't think I will sug ...more
