I wanted to like this one, and I do appreciate that it is a slice of life kind of book. Much of it is slow and falls into a routine. I just didn't like the routine and it became such a slog to read, even though it was really just a 2-3 day commitment. The self-deprecating dialog and cursing were excessive and this became less funny as the book wore on. No, I didn't want a typical book or tidy ending, but this fell flat for me because Rachel was underdeveloped and Earl was the most interesting of ...more

What is it about?

Greg’s a nerd. He has not many friends. At school, he manages to be invisible and to avoid being in the spotlight of the groups. Earl is Greg's best friend and the two share the love of movies. Together they turn some of their favorite films in new versions (of course no one is allowed to see!).
