It was entertaining, endearing, but ultimately too "fawny" for my taste. The author goes on and on ( and on and on and on) about how perfect Harry is, and how tough the sport of jumping is. Don't get me wrong, it IS a tough sport. I know professional competitors. But it doesn't need to be constantly said again and again in the same words, and in a tone of reverence reserved for AIDS cure.

I *did* like it, Snowman has a neat and compelling story.

This is an interesting account of a story that I followed as it was happening being something of a horse crazy kid at that time. Although the author felt it was important to give some history into the role of horses in US history, I wish she had confined herself to the story of Snowman and the horse show world at that time.

Absolutely wonderful story that is well researched. Unfortunately, the writing is downright painful at times and, for horse folks, borders on condescending. Still, a great story and an interesting history of showjumping, especially the fall indoors.

This is one of my favorite books. True horse stories have a special place in my heart and this is one of the all time greats about a horse that inspired a nation.
