Amazing scholarship that is well written and well presented.
A must read for anyone interested in the history of the United States.

very LONG. definitely the most time I've ever spent reading about a "founding father," which was not my intent going into this. incredibly interesting in parts, particularly the parts about the Hemmings family beyond what's generally know about Sally Hemmings and Thomas Jefferson. I listened the the audiobook and am baffled as to why someone thought it was a good idea to hire a white lady who can't speak french to read this, but maybe things were different in...2010? ...more
