The best thing I could say about this book is that I now want a Mediterranean fruit bat for Christmas.
Having finished it, I have to admit that after the first 100 pages it does get better. I can report two (2 only) chuckles, and no belly laughs. How could so many people find this funny? Maybe I just don't get American humour-Sedaris didn't do it for me either. Warning to fellow Kiwis: unless you are a great fan of slapstick, don't bother with this book. ...more

2.5 stars; crude and crass, but I did laugh, because Moore does come up with some funny lines in his books. However, this book was merely "ok" for me because what appeared to be a fun and entertaining story turned down a path that I found to be not only off-track but also silly - and not in a good way.
