I can't believe I never added this book to my read shelves! I read it in high school.

I first read this book when I was in the 9th Grade and have lost count of the number of times I have since read it . It is amazing how one can love a character so dislikeable. Scarlett is such a brat but she's right up there with Jo March as one of my favorite book characters.

There is some language and attitudes that are difficult for me to swallow esp regarding slavery and African Americans, but if you can place it in a historical context one can get through it. I loved Scarlett's strength and I appreciated the emotional honesty of many of the characters who are flawed just as all of us are.
