I loved this book. After having read The Road and now this other book by McCarthy, I have to say that this man is a genius. It had been a good six or seven years since I'd read any Cormac, so I wasn't too sure what to expect when I picked this book up. Now that I've finished it, I think I'd rank it as my favorite one.

I could've done with a few less chapters focusing on the ruminations of the sheriff, especially towards the end, but overall I really enjoyed this book and look forward to checking out some more of McCarthy's work in the future. ...more

McCarthy's spare style is so perfectly suited to his setting and characters here - he captures the essence of surface calm with roiling emotions underneath incredibly well. ...more
