What Members Thought

It takes me a while to finish this book, because apparently this book is not like what I've imagined before. I hoped for thriller/mystery, stories full of suspense with New York City as the wonderful setting. But turned out, this book is more like "post-modern" blabla that I don't really get. Call me a conventional reader, I love good ol mysteries more than some pretentious stories full of symbols, identity searching and all of the crazy batsh*t. But... in its time (during the 80s), this trilogy

I really wanted to like this book because I loved the movie "Smoke," which Auster had written. Alas, no such luck. I found it a rather tedious read consisting of pointless mind games, leaving me to think that Auster must have a lot of experience of being alone and driving himself crazy with his own thoughts. I get enough of that at home with my own brain, thank you.

I can't help but feel like these are three stories I'm going to come back to often - sorbets and palette cleansers to help me through some heavy meals.
