Wow. Only my second Octavia Butler read - how have I lived my reading life without her? This is a remarkable story, a complex fantasy/horror story about time travel to a time that has barely beef recoded with by white America. It's part slave memoir, but with the eye and lived experience of s modern woman. This book will stay with me a long time. ...more

I usually don't watch or read time travel narratives because they can get confusing, but this was easy to follow. In this book, the time travel wasn't explained much and I was fine with it, but I wish it was explained how the ending was possible.
