Can you be a humbug for only four stars?
Familiarity breeds the ranking complacency, I'm sure. I did enjoy the vision of the spirits parading around with their chains and unable to interact with the humans. Wouldn't mind seeing that in a version of the Christmas Carol.
Also, Dickens delightful intro on Marley being "dead as a doornail" was a lot of fun. ...more

Well this is truly one of the great stories ever written, but I like it better on film. The George C. Scott version is my favorite, with the Muppets and the North Shore Music Theater coming in second. I did not enjoy the Jim Carrey version from last year.
This was a book club choice and the prose is absolutely beautiful but I just really like it spoken. God Bless us everyone.

I so love Charles Dickens and this is definitely one of my favorites. It's a quick read and really puts me in the Christmas spirit.

Apparently I read this in December 2015. I don't recall reading it, although I believe we listed to an audio-book version and that must have been it. That being said, I think I slept through the majority of it as we drove. The book all seemed new to me as a I read and it affected me. I see now why President Monson said that he read it annually during the Christmas season.
